Summary

The EPE operator is able to display PDF and native files on the screens at the hearing room, using slightly different methods.

A PDF appears on the system as a viewable document whereas a native file will be any which is not a PDF. They appear as a hyperlinked native slipsheet on the platform, allowing users to select the hyperlink to download and view the document offline in the relevant software.

We've set out each file type can be displayed below.

Displaying PDF & Native Files

PDF

PDF files that are viewable within the platform itself can be directly displayed by the EPE operator once called by Counsel.

Native

Native files cannot be viewed and therefore displayed directly within the platform itself. Instead, the EPE operator will display the native slipsheet to show viewers it is a native and for the purposes of logging in the EPE wall history. Once the slipsheet is displayed, the operator will show the underlying native file in the relevant offline software.

All native files will be provided to the EPE operator prior to the hearing to ensure they are ready for display, avoiding the need to run downloads during proceedings.

Any documents that can be opened using Adobe, Microsoft Office applications or video files can be shown (Access and video files may need to be tested in advance). If there are files that require more bespoke software or additional licenses, or would like any testing of the natives, liaise with your Case Manager in advance of the hearing to discuss the available options.
